Smith Ouma

Doctoral Researcher

Smith researches and writes on structural, legal and social barriers to the right to health and on access to land. His doctoral research focuses on how participatory urban land use planning can be used as a tool for improving health outcomes in informal settlements under the supervision of Prof. Ambreena Manji and Prof. John Harrington. Smith is a recipient of the Vice Chancellor's International Research Excellence Scholarship.

Smith also teaches Property Law at Strathmore University. He has collaborated with various Organisations including Katiba Institute and Slum Dwellers International on diverse projects relating to land and health rights.
