Cardiff Law and Global Justice supports critical and engaged research across and between disciplines. Members work in law, political philosophy, history, cultural studies, social theory, international relations and human geography. The centre encourages diverse anti-colonial, feminist and socialist perspectives on law. It wishes to retrieve neglected traditions and to amplify contemporary scholarship from the global south. The Centre welcomes visiting scholars, doctoral researchers and students from across the world.

- anti-colonial movements in Lusophone Africa and the creation of international law;
- the regulation of extractive industries in Africa;
- accountability for development aid spending;
- land law and governance in East Africa;
- post-colonial perspectives on global health law;
- indigenous knowledge and global intellectual property regimes;
- the history of legal education in the period of decolonization;
- identity, nationality and citizenship for Southern Sudanese communities.
Journals
Cardiff Law and Global Justice members serve on the editorial boards of Social and Legal Studies, Journal of Law and Society, Review of African Political Economy, Feminist Legal Studies, Journal of Intervention and State-Building; and on the executives of the African Studies Association, UK and the Socio-Legal Studies Association.
Book Series
The Centre hosts a book series with Edward Elgar entitled Critical Perspectives on Law, Development and Global Justice, edited by John Harrington (Cardiff), with Celine Tan (Warwick) and Wouter Vandenole (Antwerp).
